MARCELLO SCARANO

The year 2011 marked the 110 years since the birth of Marcello Scarano (Siena 1901 - Campobasso 1962), the most important painter of the twentieth century Molise.

The parents were natives of Trivento Marcello Scarano, transferred to Siena, where his father Nicholas, professor of literature, had received the teaching.
In his paintings Scarano has often painted landscapes of the countryside and our territories and no doubt we can say that was a painter with Trigno Valley in the heart.

Jovine wrote that "it is only ever met, with his aristocratic carelessness of a whimsical, elusive bohemian always ready to joke and salacious divertevole, soulful eyes that lit up, and fugitives.
Apparently lived isolated from the business centers of national culture, but aware of the problems of art, which could make a critical contribution to its original and motivated. "

After childhood and adolescence in Siena, back in 1918 in Campobasso, where she studied painting Nicholas Biondi and begins to participate in exhibitions.

Artistic production.
A considerable number of works of considerable artistic production is represented by the portraits (and self), especially family members (in particular his sister Silvia), covering the first two decades of activity.

Another issue, deeply dear to the artist, is the world farmers from Molise, with both the characters with the landscape.
Landscapes of Molise, Campobasso with the Monforte Castle, with the valley of Trivento Trigno and farmhouses, Mainarde, Termoli and the sea are recurring themes throughout the period of its production.
From the Little Shepherd (1925) Trigno the Valley (1923), the Reaper (1930) to the Threshing (1935), by Farmer (1935) Collection of the Grain (1940) which gets a special prize in Cremona "Triennale"

Another trend is very dear to him the sacred, mainly dealt with in the decade from 1930 to 1940, with the Pilgrims, the Marian Month.
